Selective Use of Venovenous Bypass During Liver Transplantation in a Patient with Severe Aortic Stenosis
A 71-year-old man with metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis cirrhosis (MELD 3.0 score 41) underwent expedited evaluation for liver transplantation. His medical history included refractory ascites, portal vein thrombosis, recurrent hepatic encephalopathy, prior transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) with revision, hepatorenal syndrome requiring intermittent hemodialysis, chronic kidney disease and prior epidural abscess status post laminectomy.
